Dr. Richard N. Gilson attended the University of Arizona College of Medicine, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1982, followed by his medical degree in 1986. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Good Samaritan Medical Center/Phoenix Veterans Administration Medical Center in 1989. Dr. Gilson is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. In 2008, Dr. Gilson incorporated a medically-supervised weight loss clinic into his practice.
Outside the office, Dr. Gilson spends most of his time with his family, including his wife, four children and two grandchildren. He enjoys boating and wakeboarding, exercising, target shooting, landscape projects and family vacations. Dr. Gilson also spends time participating in the political process, especially as it pertains to health care.
